A. Frickin. Mazing.

The kid playing the banjo is eight years old. Eight.
I just spent 20 minutes watching banjo videos on YouTube. Incredible.
I love it!

Can't get enough.

First there were stripes...  (You may remember similar straws from my birthday celebration) -

Well, now there are polka dots! In red...
And orange...

And other fun colors. With lots more stripes.
I seriously need to have a party.

How I found out that I married a fireman.

My husband just ran out the back door, fire extinguisher in hand, where he leaped over our back wall to put out a fire in our alleyway. Our neighbors had somehow spilled (poured?) gasoline and it caught on fire (or were they trying to burn it off...?). They were tying to extinguish it with their garden hose but the gas and fire were just spreading - toward our back wall, the power pole, and dry brush that had collected in the corner. After using up our first household fire extinguisher, the hubs ran back inside for the second one and it did the trick.
Don't ask me why our neighbors were playing with gasoline... or how it caught on fire... 'cause I don't know. But I'm pretty sure the hubs just kept us from calling 911 and what could have been a very unpleasant situation.
Thanks, babe. It's nice to know I've got my own volunteer fireman!
And readers, however few of you there are, please please please be sure you have at least one of these in your home, somewhere easy to access - because you just never know.

Blog Love: Letterpress Tags

Remember when I told you about those free letterpress tags that Melissa was sending out? If you thought I was kidding, you were wrong.
Not too long ago, a lovely padded envelope came popping through my mail slot (yes, I really do have a slot in my front door!) and it was absolutely filled with letterpress tags! I was completely overwhelmed by Melissa's generosity. She included a gorgeous set of holiday tags - just in time for my Christmas packages! - and a huge assortment of tags that are perfect for birthday gifts or everyday occasions.

Melissa, a huge heartfelt Thank You to you!! And congrats on the birth of your little goober any day now!

Quite Unacceptable.

Really, weather? REALLY?

I'm hoping that tomorrow will be like our wedding weather - where it poured rain the day before the party and then miraculously cleared up the day of the party and we all enjoyed our time in the glorious sunshine and our shoulders got sunburned.
I have a feeling that this isn't going to be the case tomorrow. 90% seems pretty solid.

I'm fairly certain...

... that this was not the birthday dress the hubs had in mind when he promised me one.
But oh. my. heavens. *swoon*

Sweet Paul's Fall

I mentioned this digital magazine in a previous post but did not do it justice at all.  My apologies!
If you haven't already, you really should carve out some time to sit down and flip through it - you won't be disappointed.
From gorgeous Autumn and Halloween decor inspiration to mouth-watering recipes, it's absolutely beautiful from cover to cover.
Sweet Paul also has a blog if you'd like to keep up with the latest happenings and be notified when the Holiday Issue comes out in November.
Sneak Peek:

Doesn't this drink look delicious?

I just want to have a party in the woods...

Salted Caramel and Chocolate Cake? Yes, please!

A Good Day!

Today has been such a lovely day! And it's not even over yet.
First, I won a giveaway over at Green Eyed Monster - five cards from Paper Mango! I picked a few Happy Birthday cards and a few of her Palm Hello cards. Lucky day!
Paper Mango also has a delightful blog right here.

If you've never heard of Green Eyed Monster, they're a great little site that promotes handmade and sustainable products including jewelry, stationery, and accessories for your home. They also have giveaways you can enter almost every day!

Then the afternoon mail brought me the newest Paper Source catalog. Dangerous... but full of inspiration. I know I've said it before but I love this mum wreath kit.

Then my order came from Chronicle Books with the new book Paper + Craft. I pre-ordered it so long ago that I almost forgot it was coming! I'm so excited to sit down after dinner and pour through these beautiful ideas. It's a gorgeous book!

How has your day been so far?

Calling all Women

Especially those women who haven't been able to have a happy period - you have to check out this letter. Any woman who can compare wearing a pad to having a mini F-16 in her pants is worth the read.
If you have more time to spare or just need some comic relief in your day, check out her blog here. You won't be disappointed!
(Many thanks to my friend, Melissa, for sharing this with me!)
