Something about swinging over a creek makes you feel like a kid in summertime again.
Playing with effects in Picnik with these two photos.
I love the sun coming through those gorgeous green tree branches.
The hubs was so relaxed against that rock, it was hard to pull him away from the creek - even with promises of lunch. If you're ever in the Ojai/Santa Paula area, head up Hwy 150 to Sisar Canyon.
Keep your eye out for the swing!

Lazy Saturday
Apparently, when you order almost 400 photo prints, your local one-hour Costco photo center reserves the right to take several hours to process your order. Phooey. Guess I'll be picking up my prints tomorrow afternoon.
We've had a lazy Saturday around here - the hubs and I have both been working overtime for the last few weeks and needed to take things slow. Other than hitting my head on a bicycle (hanging from the garage ceiling) and getting my thumb caught in the dryer door, it's been a good day. Full of sunshine, sweet tea, and laundry on the line. I love days like these.
The roses are in their first bloom of the season and it's always the best bloom of the year. My yellow roses are huge and they smell amazing! There are at least 12 buds on each rose bush.
I also have little flowers on my blackberry bush! Does this mean we'll get berries this year...?
This is Sammi's favorite spot to sit while I'm in the yard - middle of the sidewalk that connects the house to the garage. If he gets too warm, he moves to the shade but he'll lay here for quite a while!
Call me crazy but I actually like doing laundry - especially when I can hang it on the line to dry. There's something relaxing about the process. Or maybe I just enjoy being out in the yard on a sunny day, regardless of the chore...? (It helps to have a little vintage clothespin holder, complete with vintage clothespins - a gift from a friend. Isn't it cute?)
Yep, it's definitely Spring around here! What's on tap for your weekend?

Happiness is... Simple Pleasures.
A snuggle with the cat, in her favorite place:
Flowers from the yard...
Flowers from the hubs...
And a cold coke on ice with a bendy straw.

One of Those Days
Took the dog for a ride, got a hot cup of coffee, and I'm sitting in a quiet house with soft morning sunlight filtering through the curtains here and there. When a day starts off like this, you just know it's going to be a good one. I didn't even have to wait in line at Starbucks, an event unprecedented in the two years we've lived here.
I have to tell you a little about our Starbucks. Without fail, there is at least one, usually two ridiculous people in line. They're usually in line right in front of me, as luck would have it. Yelling into their cell phone, trying to find out if "so-and-so back at the house wants non-fat or soy milk in their tall extra-hot vanilla latte hold-the-foam - and does grandma want something, too? The blended kind? Or the one on ice? Yes, they're both made with ice but one is like a smoothie. No, like a coffee smoothie... OK, so she just wants a cup of coffee? Yes, we can make some at the house but I'm here and I'll bring it to her..."
Or they're digging through their massive bag for an elusive dime, only to find a five-dollar bill so "yes, please, they will have that piece of classic coffee cake, but to-go and heated up in a little box, not one of those bags."
And I'm standing there, patiently waiting to just get a single cup of coffee. It's the kind of Starbucks that is never really 'busy' but that always seems busy because the people who frequent it are absolutely ridiculous. They need an express line for people like me. I'll even serve myself - just let me hand you my buck-fifty.
Anyway.
I'm going to pop some scones in the oven and then the issue of Better Homes and Gardens with pumpkins on the cover is calling my name.
I love Saturdays.

New Discovery: Rehab Point
It was a gorgeous Friday evening that hints of summer so the hubs and I decided to revisit an experience from our early dating years: Pizza at the beach.
Picking up a medium pepperoni and some cheesy bread, we found ourselves at a new beach spot called Rehab Point. The park boasts a fantastic pirate ship playground for the kids (and adults!), soccer fields, beach volleyball pits, and covered picnic areas as well as a great paved bike/skateboard trail. I want to come back and explore! And play on that teeter-totter that was occupied when we walked by... After eating, we figured we should try to work off some of that greasy cheesiness and walk toward the sound of the ocean waves.
I may have found a new favorite place - just a short little walk through the park and over the dunes...

Doesn't get more peaceful than this -

Being the kids that we are, we had to experiment with our jumping capabilities. The hubs went first and ended up with more sand in his shoes than I've ever seen!
Geronimooooooooo!

Then it was my turn -

These are my two favorite shots - you don't really need to see my face, do you?

I always think of Huck Finn or Tom Sawyer when he does silly things like this - his silliness is one of his greatest attributes. Keeps me laughing.
Just can't help but love this man!

All images by me except the ones of me - those were taken by the hubs.

There are sunny days and then there are Sunny Days.
Today is the kind of Sunny Day that makes you want to toss on a cute dress and romp in the grass... Or sit at a sidewalk cafe and drink iced tea with a friend... Or take a ramble on your bicycle down a shady lane.
Unless you're a cat, in which case, you probably just want to lay on the table.

I was only able to do one of these things today but it was simply delightful. Excuse me now, while I go sit on the porch swing in the sun and wait for my hubby to get home.
